I've been riding since the summer of 1995, and haven't been able to stop since! I learned how to ride on a '95 Katana that belonged to a friend of mine. I also borrowed an old Suzuki cruiser (might have been a GS450) from time to time when the Katana wasn't available. I bought my first bike in April of 1997. It was my first true liberation into the world of biking. The bike was a brand new Suzuki Intruder 800 that I purchased at Killeen Power Sports. I got about four years of use out of that bike before I started dreaming of something bigger. Early April, 2001, I spied the ad for the Honda VTX. I couldn't help but drool on the page...what a bike! I wasn't planning on getting one right away, but as fate would have it, my Intruder would be plowed by a car two weeks later. With the Intruder a total loss, I had $5k to put down on a new bike. Of course, the VTX was a hot item and hard to get that early in the year. All of the dealers around DFW had people lined up several months in advance on what few they were scheduled to get. I finally managed to track one down up in Maine that hadn't been sold yet. That June 2nd I was in Maine straddling my brand new Illusion Blue Honda VTX. I had an awesome ride getting back to Texas after that. From Maine, down the East coast (and across the 20 mile long Chessapeake Bay bridge tunnel), through Florida where I stopped to visit relatives, and around the Gulf of Mexico to get back to Texas. I had 4000 miles on my VTX in the first 2 weeks, and boy, was I happy! So far there isn't a single thing I can complain about. The bike is great!
