My wife (Beth) and I moved from Illinois to Texas back in December of 2004. While up there, I was a member of ABATE, and enjoyed 3 years of riding/camping with a fantastic group of riders known as the Heartland Sundae Road Riders.
I've been riding since 1996 (late bloomer), primarily cruisers. While with the Heartland group, I ventured into sport bikes on a 2002 Suzuki Bandit 1200S. While that was an exciting joy to ride on the beautiful twisties of western Wisconsin, after two years I reverted back to the 'comfort' of a cruiser. First an '01 Vulcan, followed by an'08 Concours and '07 Goldwing. Now riding an '05 Dyna Wide Glide.
Growing up in the Chicago area, with a limited riding season (April - November), I never thought I'd utter the phrase "it's too HOT to ride...", but as you all know, July and August can be brutal at times. Since arriving to Texas, my riding has been limited to daily commutes and solo weekend afternoon jaunts when weather permits. I miss the camaraderie of a group of like-minded riders, and look forward to meeting new friends very soon!
